'How-to' repair videos by make/year/model

I have an idea and I want to get your input.

I'm planning on launching a website where mechanics post 'how-to' repair videos for specific cars and earn money as other DIY mechanics buy these videos for their own repairs.

So if you need to perform a repair you've never done before on a certain car, you would go to this site, choose your year/make/model and you could then buy the video which walks you through the process. Prices would vary by type of repair. So a fuel filter replacement video might cost $2 but an engine overhaul video would cost more.

So if such a site already existed...

(a) Would some of you more knowledgeable mechanics be interested in creating videos and earning some money?
(b) Would some of your less knowledgeable mechanics be intersted in buying videos for your own repairs?

Let me know. I may build this thing but I want to get a feel for how useful and interesting it would be to people.

One thing to remember is that most DIY guys are doing it to save money. (cheap) I have seen places that charge for drawings or other things yet have never ever paid for any of that information. I just look harder around the net until I find what I need.

I am not saying it is a bad plan I just know that I would never use it unless it was something that was done so good that people were recomending it's value. It would be cool if it was like a Utube site where people submit them. I have seen lots of DIY videos out there but none organized at one site.

Normally a business plan requires "running the numbers."

Of course you'll find 10 Chevy sales for every Mercedes sale. Probably more.

Then, of course, you're here polling a VERY small subset of Mercedes owners.

I'd guess you have a market for about 10 sales.

I think that's a great idea. As an inexperienced DIY-wannabe, I'd rather pay $5 for a video then spend time looking for info online or trying to figure it out myself. And there's incentive for people to put info online which would help build the site. A decent idea.

I think it's a great idea, but it will win or fail depending on the price and how professionally the video is made.
Also, is this just for the USA market? There are slight differences between MB's depending on the country they are sold in.

I would definitely pay $5 for a video. I hate looking for stuff on the internet.
