Thanks to many of you for writing and keeping in touch while I was deployed to Africa this Summer. I am back in America and happy to be home. My time in Djibouti Africa was memorable and I would not trade it for an S600!
But seriously; I was reading all the posts about Batteries going dead because MB is a energy hog. This was what I had done to prevent coming back to a Dead Car Battery
I did all what was necessary. I wash, triple waxed the car. I over pressurized the tires. I was leaving for 4-5 months during the Florida summer. I purchased
semi custom C230 Car Cover that is breathable. I cinched the car cover with tarp clamps and sisal rope, front to rear, then side to side, 4 anchoring points all the way around.
Full Oil Change. Mobil 1 of course
I also introduced into the Gasoline Tank Sta-Bil Fuel Stabilizer so the Gasoline would not degrade over the Summer months.
OK now the meat and substance of what I did to prevent a Drained Car Battery.
I installed a Solar Car Battery Charger. I ran the Charger Clamps into the Trunk where the Battery is and then put the car cover on, cinched it down real nice, used the cross-under cable lock and then secured/locked the Solar Charger to the Cable lock. I made sure the Solar charger was facing due East.
NOTE: THE CAR STARTED ON THE FIRST CRANK!
I've included some pictures to give you an idea of what all I am talking about.
Pictures are worth a thousand words I hope.
My Goal was to find a way to not come back to a dead car battery
and to document it for all yall.
I hope this might help or inspire someone else.
I was gone from June until September, Florida Summer Season, Hurricane Season, Tornado Season, etc. haha
Car cover never budged an inch!
My Car is a 2000 MB C230 Kompressor ( for reference purposes ).
