Parking, valet and otherwise

Do you allow valet parking with your MB? If so, under what circumstances?

I generally do not allow valet parking except at only two hotels where I do a lot of business.

I never leave my car overnight in any public garage (e.g., airport).

In shopping malls I try to park in a less traveled spot even if I have to walk more.

dude, I got a 7 year old car that costs less than a new camry.

When the valet has the choice to beat on my car, or the brand new 911 turbo, im pretty sure it ain't gonna be my AWD 275bhp vehicle.

that said, I do try to park away from others. I have no problem leaving my car in a public garage overnight.

Thumbs up

I always check the mileage before I give it over to valet, sometimes it's just a pain in the ass to NOT valet it.

I ALWAYS park it far away from anyone. If I have to park next to someone, I try to find a car more expensive to repair than mine and I never leave my car in a public garage, EVER, except at work but I'm right there and I NEVER take it to New York City which isn't far away...hell...I wouldn't take ANY car up there.

Do you park it yourself? Do you rent a limo to take you to the airport?

Don't believe everything you think

Generally speaking, I like to pick my own parking spots. But for those unaoidable valet places, I let them park it. There are a lot of nice cars in Silicon Valley with picky owners. So valet take good care of their charges.

I will take the Volvo or the Suburban to the airport if I need to leave it.

I went to a grocery store that had a huge parking lot full of cars, so I went to the rear of the building where there were very few cars. I parked away from everyone else, where there were many many parking spaces, only to return to find one additional car in the lot. An old minivan! Parked so close to mine that it was a struggle to get into the driver's side door. There were only 5 out of maybe 50 spaces being used and I parked away from the building so it was an inconvenient walk. WTF's wrong with this woman!?

It made me think first of dark parking lots where the van is full of people waiting to kidnap the unsuspecting driver, but this was definitely a soccer mom vehicle.

Well my ex-girlfriend hated that i parked in the furthest spot away. Maybe because she had to walk in heels but i didn't care. Now I just drop her off and then park if it is far. I usually don't mind walking because I smoke on the way to the building.

As far as manhattan goes, i work there and I've driven my car in and parked it at this other garage once. When I got it back on saturday morning I realized they backed someones car into my from bumper. Huge white mark ... paint scrapped right off. Just thinkign about it makes me want to flip out!

As far as valet, depends on the area. If i'm going out in the hamptons I'm really not worried when everyone out there is whipping 007's whip.

I used to always park way out, but now, I've gotten so that I just try to not park next to the car that can't park in their space and be generally aware. I find I have to have 2 - 3 door dings fixed during the fall service. (I typically end up about service time in the falls). I've had one bumper scraped in a parking lot. Of course no one wanted to stick around. Cost me 350 bucks to have it removed, repainted and realigned. Sucks, but it is part of life.

If any one has a problem with me parking far away, I usually either tell them ' tough shit' or tell them to drive next time. Then again, I'm single...but sometimes I think that even if I wasn't, I still wouldn't listen and I'd park far away. Especially at malls and movie theaters... restaurants, usually you don't have as many teenagers so it's not as bad...but you still have dumb drivers and dopes everywhere.

One time in my other car, this girl in a white lexus hard top convertible, the SC430 I think? Or whatever the hell it's call, anyway, she parks right next to me, and she throws her door open and puts a dent into my door. While I was in the car...

I was going to do the same to her, but she was at least smart enough to get back to her car and leave before I did, because otherwise I would have swung my door right into hers.

"Oh it didn't do anything, it's OK." she said. I let her have it.

OK, now I'm ranting, but yea...dude, that sucks about what happened in the garage, how did you get that resolved?
