from the first i brought it in, i don't know the exact codes, but said there was a misfire on cylindars 1, 2, 3, and 5. The check engine light was on and flashing when it was running rough, but on this last time the check engine light came on and flashed when it was running rough but then the check engine light went it off the next time i turned it off.

I am currently away from my car for awhile and will bring it in when i get back

The only time I had the check engine light flash was when I had misfires on one bank of cylinders. It turned out to be a clogged catalytic converter. I thought you might have the same problem, but the misfire on 5 does not make sense then. Maybe you do have a clogged cat and the coil on 5 is bad.

Generally speaking, the probability of two failures happening at the same time is pretty rare. But it seems your explanation is the most plausible.

It is unlikely 87/89 octane gas will cause rough idle. May be pre-ignition but not rough idle.

i got the car back from a different dealership and again they couldn't find anything wrong, said the cat is fine, maf is working properly, and coils are good. They couldn't get it to repeat at the shop so they didn't replace anything so again i spent a couple hundred dollars for them to do nothing.

Well this pissed me off so much that i went and sold the car and bought a jap truck no more benz's for me, i assumed the benz's tech's knows what they are doing but no, and the dealerships just seem to want you money, for everybody else just be warned
