The fact is that BMW is bring the 1 Series to the U.S. next spring (it has been sold in Europe since 2004). BMW says: "...the 1 Series is partly an attempt to recapture some of the low-pretense, high-performance mystique its original models had". The Series 1 will go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in 5.3 seconds, with a top speed of 155 miles per hour (so the article states), the price will be around $30,000 est. So the question is what will Mercedes have to offer? The article noted both the B-Class and the A-Class and stated: "A Mercedes spokesman says the company is looking at the market but has yet to make any decision".
