ECU tuning

Guys, I'm coming from the Subaru world, and I would like to know if there is any program I can use to remap the ECU, i.e. accessing FUEL, IGNITION, and TIMING and BOOST(if applicable ).

Something like openECU for baru's...

Let me know..

Thanks

F.

I’m bored and this post looks lonely, so . . . . . . .

First, WELCOME TO THE FORUM! Glad to have you. Post early and often!

Now on to the post -

First, I'm a nice guy. Read the following and smile a little. They tell me laughter is the best medicine, although some should exercise caution in mixing mood enhancing meds. Doctor Frank, no one knows what you’re talking about. Let me rephrase that. Based on this post, I can see that you’ve had some Subaru experience and you’d like to remap the ECU of a Mercedes-Benz. After that, things get fuzzy.

It's barely in focus, but you may be looking into increasing boost, retarding the timing, and doing "Robert Bosch knows what" with the fuel. I have no clue which model Mercedes-Benz, what year, what country, whether it’s an inline 4, vee six, eight, or twelve, but one with boost. At this point it could be supercharged or turbocharged, gas or diesel. Guessing that the vehicle is out of the original 4 year warrantee, I’ll hypothesize the car to be a 2003. While I’m at it, I’ll postulate a U.S. spec vehicle. That knocks the list of models down to a C230K Coupe, C230K sedan, C32, CL55, CL600, E55, S55, S600, SLK32, or an SL55. Can you see my problem doc?

Before anyone answers your questions, they’re going to need some help. That's assuming someone has broken the Bosch Motronic code (don't let them lie to you, MANY have broken the code), happens to be looking at the general forum, and wants to share. Doctors usually give me advice, so here’s my chance to return the favor (although I’m not sure my doctor is actually doing me a “favor” - he does get paid) – at any rate, there are different forums for different models. The best answers come from the forum specific to your model. For example, if you have an E55, the W211 E55 forum probably has the answers you're looking for. This is the "general forum". As evidenced by my reply, they let anyone wander in here. Just between us, because we have that Dr - Patient privilege thing going, some of these General Forum guys drive 240 diesels AND THEY’RE PROUD OF IT. If you're new to Mercedes-Benz, 240D’s are smoke emitters that accelerate slower than the earth rotates, thereby technically going backwards while in drive. EYE KEEED EYE KEEED (Doc, 240D owners are also homicidally loyal)

Absolute lastly, whatever you do, don't wander into Off Topic - those guys are just homicidal.

Where’s the coffee? I need another cup. Someone keep this thread alive and let the welcoming continue!

Dr Franky- From another former Subie owner, welcome to the forum. Marcus has no patience for the "get to the point" attitude of Subie tuners, but he makes a valid point. If there's a particular car you are interested in tuning, you are best off posting in the forum for that model.

I'm not a mechanic, but I can tell you from my limited sphere of knowledge that these overengineered German vehicles are dramatically more complex in every way than the little Japanese boxers we have such affection for. I sometimes miss my trusty AWD friend when the snow falls (and when the M-B repair bill is presented.) But a couple of smooth and quiet hours at 100 mph generally cures that.

If you're basing a purchasing decision on your ability to tune the vehicle, a Benz might not be the best choice. (Although lots of 190E owners will disagree with me.)

Hey, Dr. Franky, we need to know the year and model of car you have. Also, the VIN would be good too. We can all go from there.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant
