I think you're both right, but since the 1990 S class, Lexus, Toyota, and Honda (even Ford and pre-DCX Chrysler) have all been taking, whatever styling cues MB uses and adding them to their own designs. They slanted tail lights you see in mlfun's honda started with the S class in 1990. You can't find a car with that slant before then. It sucks to be an original, get copied by the world, then accused of being like everyone else. As long as MB is considered a mark of quality, it will always be copied. Of course, as we see from our own post, MB needs to step up to that mark or it will soon not have this problem.

I don't see it mlfun. If you really wanted to make any connections to other rears you would have chosen the Acura CL. Even though they have their similarities you can still easily distinguish the two on the streets.

I hate all these "looks like these, looks like that" debates.

With regards to the interior, Mercs have have always appeared understated, especially when they were compared to Bentleys and Rolls with their large wood dashes, and vast amounts of leather but the qualities always been there. Watching this review he shows how the designers went into so much detail when designing the simplest things. YouTube - Fifth Gear Mercedes C Class
So hopefully the quality will become apparent after 10 or 20 years. And please stop complaining about prices you've got it very good over there.

understated is fine. The quality of the plastics is just flat out subpar. Im sure its put together fine, but the look and feel of the material is more ford tauras than MB. I was disappointed.

Im glad they put a lot of thought into everything, but having a hideaway screen that you can't hide if you want to see radio info is just a bit of a useless engineering.

Finally, I don't care where you live, 104k is pretty damn expensive. Sure they may be more where you live, but then again, no one is forcing you to live where you currently do.
