2007 Paint Quality...Poor

I have a 2007 CLS550 and I have to say it has the absolute worst quality paint of any car I've owned. My Honda Element with painted plastic fenders looks 10 times better.
I've heard the tale about the new water soluable paint but orange peal is orange peal and it has to be buffed out before you clear coat. A step obviously skipped on this $76,000 car.
Dissapointed.

Didn't you see the car before you bought it?

Thank you for your post, asianml. No I didn't see it before I bought it. I'm actually blind and drive using a brail map and the sense of smell.
Best regards,

I don't think asianml was offensive, if you've seen an MB at the shop, you should not expect different (not necessarily better) paint for your car specifically.

It is true that the paint is slightly orange peal like. This has been discussed on another thread, perhaps you would want to search it.

Thanks for your reply Diesel Benz. I don't need to search it, I can go in my garage and see it first hand.

To be honest, when I was purchasing the car I didn't really examine the paint up close. I was more interested in the interior and engine bay. My fault. Let the buyer beware.

I didn't take offense at asianml's post, I simply responded in the same spirit. You didn't see me wink?

But its a Mercedes and all Mercedes cars are special. So don't expect the paint
to be any different. There are reasons why this paint was chosen on the ride.

What's wrong with orange ?

If the paint is as bad as you say--and it is ubiquitous--MB will soon issue a recall and you and the others should have the option of a complete make-over or a new car. They don't let real problem fester. They've learned the hard way it does not pay to ignore real problems...

Don't believe everything you think
