I'm pretty sure that there is nothing wrong with my spacial awareness...although I have to admit that flying lessons 5 years ago did tax my brain to the ultimate. So why the hell do I find (perfect) parallel parking so hard in my CLK. It's never been a problem in any of my previous 7 cars.
It's got to be something to do with the poor close external visibility from the driver's seat in this car. Or maybe the high waistline?
To help parking, MB have provided me with Parktronic that beeps if I get too close to anything at the rear, and a passenger mirror that dips to show the ground when reversing. But often when I park in a supermarket carpark, initially I have not found the center of the painted box and the car is not straight. This is generally when squeezing into the gap between two other parked cars.
After 18 months of ownership, it's beginning to drive me nuts!
