B Service

It's time for my B service on my ML. I don't feel like paying $300 for a oil change, filter replacement and misc. other things that I can do. Does anyone know how to reset the alert without some expensive equipment.

Mine was a little less than $250 but you summed up the A and B services pretty well; others have called them glorified oil changes. The only things I got with mine were an oil change, new charcoal filter, and top off the fluids. Of course they spend about 2 hours inspecting this and that, and it should logically include hooking you up to the Star diagnostics (but I don't know if it does). Star costs like $100,000 - probably what you are refrring to, and I think that might be the method the dealers use to re-set the counter. You can do it yourself, but I have forgotten how.

If your car is under a MB warranty, I'd let the dealer do these (aka CYA). If not, and you're comfortable with the inspection part, by all means make it a do-it-yourself.

Look up resetting the FSS in the index of the owners manual.
