Yeah I agree with Jayhawk (but don't tell anybody over on off- topic!). You've got to be confident that your wheels have little if any of the clear coat left on them. My wheels are ratty and full of curb rash

Did you see his differential??!!!!!!!!!!
Below is picture of my "new" wheels. Plain water and barbecue brush was all it took to clean accumulation of dirt. . I just bought those wheels and had lot of cleaning to do on them. The worst part was removing the streaks from acid cleaners.
The paint on the MB wheels is very tough. I didn't hesitate to use bras end of the brush.

They really are clean. I didn't clean whole inside like yours (and didn't polish the differential) but I cleaned whole rim past the holes, where you can see inside of the wheel from the outside. The paint on those wheels really is amazing. Made in Italy. I had to file some curb rush and the paint wasn't that much softer than the aluminum. I don't recommend wire brushing to anybody that wants to keep the paint perfectly shiny, but this car has 176k on it, so some imperfections are excusable.
Either way better than black dust.
