MB - the Rich Man's tinker toy

It all makes clear sense now... and this is why Benz owner's like to park their benz and heres why..

1. They are expensive "attempts" at a car so any amount of consistent driving sends your wallet to "E" faster than the gas efficiency.
2. If you're Rich, you can afford to play with them so the constant dropping it off at the mechanic doesn't bother you.
3. Being high priced makes consumers equate that to quality but they get a rude awakening after their purchase.
4. If you are Rich, you can afford to park it and drive the reliable vehicle that somehow is twistedly called a "beater" car. when in all actually the benz is the real beater.

another crybaby. everything breaks on a mercedes just like it does on every other car. i don't think most of the people here buy their cars to save money. and mb is not the rich man's tinker toy, is for those people who can appreciate good engineering. probably most of the people here make average income.

Maybe you bought a piece of crap and don't want to take responsibility for your bad choice. Great generalizations, by the way.

Do people really have this many problems with their mercedes???? I have found the opposite, when properly maintained, these cars are outstanding-and outstanding for a long time.

10 year old car, owned 1 year. Stop bitchin so much. Fix it and move on. Did you think you wouldn't have to spend any money on a 10 year old used car?

...long story short, after countless research of mercedes, like somebody else mentioned above,....and bmw.... my wife convinced me that a mercedes was the best route for us to take that keeps us both happy...looks,styling and performance for me...and economical for her.....which in the long run saves us a bundle....maybe even enough to purchase another benz daily driver.

I never knew mercedes engines were so durable first of all. I thought nothing was more durable than a 327 short block. I now have a new respect for the 6-cylinder engine produced by mercedes....2 reasons...durablity and efficiency....

I'm now becoming an enthusiest....it happend so quickly.

for the record, the only euro cars I would go near were VDubbs..now I'm warming up to the Euro-way od auto making....kudos
