Question Looking for Info on e320 Wiring Harness

I purchased an incorrect wiring harness for my e320, 1995 Mercedes. I bought a Delphi Part Number MB202 540 4032.

Delphi was the OEM Supplier in AL that provided parts to US Assys. or something like that before they went bankrupt in 2005. I need to know what the Mercedes Equivalent Part Number is that this harness replaced... The previous owner said it came from a 300e, 1993 but that info is doubtful since the 300e and e320 in 1995 use the same harness.

The Delphi Harness has extra connectors (Large Rectangular) That aren't on the e320 Harness that needs to be replaced.

The correct harness for my e320, 1995 is part# 124 440 56 32 Which I now need to purchase at full cost since mine, like virtually all e320 Harnesses, disintegrated and the insulation all fell off... Great Design Guys.

If anyone knows how to get the equivalent Mercedes Part No. that crosses to the Delphi Number above, it would be greatly appreciated since no one can use the Delphi Harness without knowing its' Mercedes Equivalent Number...

The Delphi Harness is like really like new if anyone had a use for it.

Thanx, ISXDesign

Wow, that's complicated. I was not aware that Delphi made wiring harnesses for MB, perhaps for the ML in AL. The 202 part number could point to a 94 to 99 C-class - C220, C230, or C280. The 220/230 were 4s, the 280s were sixes, one I-6 and one V-6. The V-6 is a 112 motor which also went in the ML as a 3.2. You should be able to tell if it's for a 4 or a 6 by the number of injector connections. How many connections does it have? Posting a picture might help someone recognize it. Or perhaps someone at the factory in AL could help you.

It's definitely for an inline 6. It looks identical with the e320 bad harness except on the outermost end there is a large extra rectangular multipin connector and one other single point connector. It looks like it might be looking to hook into a turbo system or something beyond everything on an e320...

202 540 40 32 is actually a Mercedes part number - wiring harness for a C280 up to F159969, which means probably 1994-95. Just curious - was it cheaper from Delphi, or how did you happen to get the wrong one? I would think if someone made a mistake you should be able to return it.

I was told that some of the replacement harnesses also weren't so hot, and that MB went through a couple of vendors before they were found to be acceptable. Unfortunately many, many people replaced harnesses that ended up not/not fixing the electrical gremlins as they should have. FWIW, the one he sold me (for my 202) said "Made in Poland" on it, and appeared to be very, very well wrapped with thicker coating on the individual wires. Epilogue: the 202 finally was running perfect and I slid it into a guard rail in the snow a month after the repair.
