I'm sure Fiat S.p.A. buys their paint from the same suppliers everybody else does.
I just wish there were more companies out there using the nano-particle ceramic clearcoat MB uses. After three years and too many trips through a commercial carwash to count my Benz still looks better than my new E93 BMW which only gets washed by hand due to the extreem softness of its clearcoat which seems to develop surface scraches from shadows passing it. BMW uses softer clearcoats to reduce stone chips from high speed driving. The system MB uses while being much more chip and scratch resistant is also much more expensive finish to apply.

Potato Chip, custom canuter valve, low-friction muffler bearings, synthetic turn signal fluid, Hi-Definition Progressive Scan Wiper Blades.
Law-makers are supposed to regulate in the interest of the public as opposed to regulating in the interest of the regulated party.
If it says Pratt and Whitney on the outside it better say Martin Baker on the inside.

The E300 I bought for my teenager is beaten up car with 240,000 miles, so burned by Texas sun, that I had to replace dull headlights.
Regardless about 50 dings and scratches, the 12-years old paint still shines and no signs of peeling.
Wait a minute. There was about 3/8" spot around roof trimming, where I had to touch up clear coat.

We have two vehicles from the specified time period. The paint on both is flawless save for a few hood dings, none of which spread.

I have a 2002 E320 4-matic with small chips in the hood. A tiny drop of touch-up expertly applied (I've become an expert) resolves this.

I also used to own (and wish I still had) an '83 300D. When I sold the car it still had flawless (for an 83) paint and f a r less chips than my 2002.

The paint on the '83 was also a lot smoother. (no orange peel)
