You are less likely to get a response if you bury a request in an old thread. I believe this is what you need:

My first was a well used '60 220S with the dreaded Hydrak trannie. I waited a long time to get into my current W210 E55.

It's the finest all around automobile I've ever owned. Quiet, powerful, rides like its on rails. Stops on a dime and leaves change. And I get 19-24 MPG.

As long as I can drive, it'll be an MB!

Enjoy your rides!

Absolutely, positively, no doubt about I can give you all a definite maybe. But if it is not Mercedes will be because I can no longer ride a in car.

A car would show appreciation for preventive maintenance by never leaving his owner stranded.

The W210 is completely underrated in my book. It seems like everybody (especially the well meaning W124 folks) blame everything that is wrong with Mercedes today on the W210 just because it had a radical (for the time) look.

j99xj,

I think you've made a very valid point.

I would be the first to say the W210 E55 is way over engineered for our roads here in the US. It's as solid as a tank. Get one up on a lift and take a look at the underside.

At first, I thought the steering was somewhat heavy, but it's not designed as a grocery-getter. It's designed to cruise, and cruise FAST.

Every day I drive it, I appreciate it even more.

Take care and have a great day!

I've owned three (previously owned). The first was a c220. Nice car but not too exciting. I've had a 95 E320 station wagon, nothing but trouble. My next and current is a 1994 E320 convertible that I love but has been nothing but trouble. Warped head, intermittantly bad air flow sensor to name a few. We've spent more on repairs than initial cost of the cars. When I asked someone, I was told since 1990 Mercedes has made so many different models of car that quality control has suffered. So, sure I might buy another Benz but it will be new or older than 1990. (To be honest, since I'm retired now it probably won't be new).

Cheers, Elliot

I would buy another Benz in a heartbeat, but not a new one just yet - I have my eyes set on a W124.036 1992 E60 AMG which is in U.S.
