I love 7g so far, beside too much downshifting what with diesel braking power makes for surges in braking. Still searching if I can reprogram that.
On W211 it is pretty hard to find "made in Germany"
Most of the stuff comes from Czech Republic, Ukraine, Poland.
I hope the engine blocks are still build in Germany, but guess who works on assembly lanes in Germany?

I think he was referring to interior trim materials. Anyway, aluminum front end has been around for 20 years, since W168. Less weight and better deformability, absorbs more crash energy.

I don't think the aluminium is the problem here.
Father's W124 closing on 30 years/300k miles is likely on original motor mounts and bushings.
On both our W211 the hydro MM were the first to get replaced, when hydro bushings on control arms follow.
The extra luxury is pretty costly.
The aluminium control arms after spending about 10 years in NY and CT are in perfect shape. The welded control arms on older models are prone to corrosion.
