Already have GL on order for my wife so that when my daughter gets the ML my wife won't drive the E500. She likes to ruin wheels on the E500.

If I could, I would buy 2 Mercedes-Benzes - 1) the 1980 450 SEL Sedan in the last-for-that-year Champagne color, and 2) the 1991 560 SEC Coupe, any color. Both cars have great potential to become classic cars, especially the 1991 560 SEC - they only produced less than 700 that year (last year of production).

I believe that EVERY MB has classic car/collector car potential. They are, quite simply, THE BEST.

Thumbs up

I am relatively new to MB but have fallen in love with my car, a CLK 320... i never dreamed of the amount of enjoyment that could come out of a car. It drives beautifully, and i have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am not too sure about reliability ... i very unfortunately ran over an animal in the road on a dark night while cruising in the country with the top down a few months ago, which seems to have caused a few issues but the car is my baby now and i am committed to giving it the service it needs, and as I have read on the web perhaps starting a savings account for repairs lol!

I am going to have to agree though, that once you own one, it would be very hard to go back to something else...

Oh Yeah. Am bitten by the Benz bug.
Having owned many cars in the past, and having 2 Benzes now, there is a difference. They feel more solid. They are better built, and do not show wear like most cars.
Perhaps not the most fuel efficient, or even the sportiest (DEPENDING ON THE MODEL), they are solid 'real deal' 'keeper' cars that have the charisma and quality to last, in my experience with them.
Plus, they provide greater psychic reward than the average plebian brands.

One key thing with Mercedes is if you can do some of the work on the car your self "oil changes transmission flushes brakes etc" It makes the car much more affordable which I find makes the car much more enjoyable. I would definitely purchase another Mercedes. The reason for this is I bought an Audi then compared which car is better quality and less maintenance? My a6 and a4 have been double the maintenance compared to my Mercedes. I'm currently looking for a collector 600sel to add to my collection!

I won't buy anything with a 7g transmission and if the designs keep getting more and more Asian looking on the exterior I won't buy any of those. Also if MB thinks adding more aluminum and plastic instead of the good old walnut and leather is a key to success then I might very well be grabbing an Audi or even a Lexus.

yes but nothing older than a 1999.Reason they went to aluminum front end parts, adding extra gears made clutch paks smaller, more plastic, and thinner leather.Asian relays and switches. Not all in built in Germany no longer.
