Thanks to all. There is alot of goog information here.
The wheels came with the car from MB and the service guy confirmed that.
I talked with him again and he said that yes ( deanyal ) the chroming process does weaken the wheels, but. The issue is 'not being able to inspect 5 year old wheels for cracks'.
He claims that after 5 years of curb smashing ( the wheels look perfect to me) and pot holes, that cracks can occur under the chrome that may cause the wheels to fail at VERY HIGH SPEEDS ( 150+ ).
This is all news to me, and I do know a guy in LA that will release the limiter for a fee.
However, I am now concerned that my wheels may not be safe at high speeds.
Thanks Again to all
