You're likely to get much better help if you repost in your SUV's native forum, scroll down the main forum page until you see the W163.
That said, I'm not familiar enough with the ML to know whether it's plagued by the window regulator problem, but the W210 class is, so perhaps it's the regulator. I'm sure some of the other ML owners can set you straight, though.
