A silver 1998 C230?

That is what I drive, and I haven't been on BW because I've been contemplating whether or not I should keep it or buy something newer, not necessarily another Benz though. BUT I like my car, it looks kinda older obviously, but I'm wondering what other people think, Benz owners & non-Benz owners. To the eye, is it still labeled a "nice" car? Of course it's a Mercedes, but when I look at it, it just looks old lol, am I making any sense? Sorry if I'm wrong here, but is a Mercedes still looked as a Mercedes no matter how old it is? And is it true that not everyone can own a Benz? So...should I keep it, and just spend money on repairs or just buy a whole new car?
I just need some opinions thats all And maybe I'm just being a snob..I dunno

I don't know what your budget is but I'd spring for a newer one if you can afford it. I drove an '06 last year while my ML was in the shop and it was NICE. But I'm 6'2" and it was a little cramped for me, even with the seat all the way back. You can pick up an '04 for around 18 to 20 k. If you can find a white one, that'd be the mark of excellence. There's just something about a white benz that makes me look. My '02 ML is white and we love it!

An unassailable argument in favor of keeping it, is that it is very, very safe.

It may not be as maintenance free or as reliable as, say the Acura TL, or cars like that which are very nice cars, but the little Benz, like all of of its biggerbothers, has been known to be a very very safe car.

Quality control was not good on them in 2000-2006, so those years of C class should be avoided. It would be average or below in 1998 compared to others, especially the Japanese, but if I were you, I would probably keep it.

Especially if you have a good shop or dealer you can trust.

The "snob" argument means little, especially nowadays, where the ads emphasize how "affordable" the new Mercedes is, and that anyone can buy one, even the budget conscious.

Benz are nice in that non-MB people always think your car is newer than it really is, providing it still shines. If you have gotten tired of the 1998, test drive a few other cars (new or pre-owned) and see if you get that "special feeling" about any of them. I try to go with my gut feeling on any decision possible, and as a female, you are probably more perceptive than I am. It's not always a "nuts and bolts" decision when you're buying a car, but it certainly helps if you know a little about them. Good Luck!
