Interesting conversation. My S430 change this weekend will be with Havoline 100% synthetic 5w40 which is MB approved.

How many people have run cars to 150K+ using any oil without problems. I used Valvoline in my 300E to 155K, my dad used Jiffy Lube and crappy filters to 160K on his Town Car, and my brother in law used several discount quick lube places on his F150 to 254K. All of these vehicles were maintained at 4-6K intevals on non synthetic oil and ran as new without oil consumption when sold. All but the 300E had quick lube oil and cheap filters.

I am a synthetic user but I have to wonder about all those MBs in years past on non synthetic oil routinely going 250K without engine problems.
