| Hey, dbellow, welcome to the forum.
As marcusF so wisely states, there is NO CODE for a faulty CPS.
Codes and CELs return only for things that affect emissions, CPS faults don't do that.
You have the classic symptoms for a defective CPS, so that's where I'd first look. Not a bad DIY job if you're handy, not horribly expensive even at the shop since it's pretty quick. The danger is when they want to charge you a couple hours diagnostic time, that will cost more than the silly sensor and it's installation. In your shoes if I wasn't going to DIY I'd just tell them to change it, 90% chance that will fix it, otherwise you'll get stuck with diagnostics anyway.
Fill out your profile as you have time and as a rule of thumb, if you have a question about your model car, it's best to post it in your native specific forum (W202) and not this general one.
Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
