Reply If You Had No Major Problems With Your MB

I will start it off:

1) New 1998 SLK230, I had zero problems with the car.

2) Used 1992 190E 2.6 with 121,449 miles, had to replaced water pump and the distributor rotor bracket, currently has 186,000 trouble free miles and still running very strong.

Okay, here you go . . .

1980 240d - Could not kill it despite years of neglect by prev. owner
1999 E320 - Nothing but regular maint - world class
2000 ML430 - 8 fuel pumps and elec. gremlins galore
1988 300E - new project - still a solid reliable car

3 out of 4 ain't bad . . . . But this is Mercedes Benz. The ML nearly turned me off the mark, just loved the others too much

1996 E320 Tourmaline Green Metallic

former M-B's
00 ML430 (Electrical Gremlin-mobile)
99 E320 (Black Bomber)
87 300E (Stealth Panzer)
80 240D (It wasn't very fast, but it sure was slow)

C124 1994 E320 Coupe: Previous ownership nothing came up...we're more unaware but service records don't indicate anything. Current ownership, consistent CEL but caused by faulty EGR, now repaired.

That's it.

2000 E320 : no problems at all (Cat is replaced by warranty).
2000 CLK320 : no major problems, but MAF & CPS replaced at 45K.
Both cars are on recall list (harmonic balancer), the E is OK'd (no work, just check). The CLK is replaced the HB.
Theses are the best 2 MB we owned (after 2 lemons C280, nothing but problems, visit the mechanic every other week).

2001 CPO E320, slightly underpowered but loaded and a very clean car overall w/ no real problems. The only question I have is which MB I want the next time around. It will be another CPO, and hopefully a V-8, maybe an AMG, but I'll have to see what is available a year from now.

This is a great idea for a thread.

1994 c280, bought with 54k on the clock, all records, stamped at the dealer.

When I bought it I took care of the two known items that fail: Wiring harness and head gasket. Although the car ran fine, I did it as a precaution.

Now I have owned it over 5 years, have 113k miles on it, and everything works perfect, nothing but regular maintenance performed by me. I did recently have an issue with the transmission shifting late, but adjusted the bowden cable and it's fine now.

Solid car.
