I haven't had any major issues with my cars. The local newspaper web service lists typical car issues, one that MB had was worn brake pads. A long time since I've changed even those! Perhaps I should count the fact that I need to fill the tank on average every 1000 kilometres, perhaps the fuel tank is leaking.

Funny! Good point about the "less than 150 people" actually viewing, I will wait until the thread has ended and redo the math.

w126 no major problems. Needs flex discs at just under 200,000 miles
w163 one of the cats clogged at 150,000 miles
other w163 no problems
R170 no problems

Other than normal maintenance MB's have treated me well. I think a lot of new buyers do no expect to do the maintenance and still expect these cars to run forever.

My W163 has had no major problems. With me, or the previous owner, according to the VMI.

Last year the both cats went bad at about 75 and 77k miles. One before the other but covered under warranty. Fuel pump went bad but I was never stranded anywhere just took longer to crank after starting and didn't do it all the time. EGS control module and brake switch light needed to be replaced *that did leave me stranded because I didn't know you could stick a pen in the gear box to get it out of gear. Other then that regular maintenance like brakes, rotars, tranny mount (wasn't charged for that) and tranny service, service A....

My 95 S500 has 119k miles. When I first got the car I had the wiring harness replaced & repaired an oil leak plus regular maintenance like shocks, tune up & oil change w/synthetic oil. Other than that, zero problems. Car is so smooth & quiet. People are SHOCKED when they ride in it & I tell them it's a 12 year old car.

If rust and a worn interior doesn't count on an old car, then I geuss that my '79 450 SLC is doing pretty good. No major mechanical repairs on the engine or trans or anything at 60 odd thousand miles.
