So far only 10 positive replies. Let me use my math degree, since there are 103,397 members of this forum:

10 / 103397 = 0.0000967 or .00967% have had no major problems!

Well a math degree may give you that, but a statistics degree would tell you that a sampling needs to be bigger. Logic would also dictate that owners without problems wouldn't really visit a forum.

300E: head gasket, water pump
ML500: P/S pump hose

Yes I have worked with "statistics degree" people before, they have no sense of humor.

We bought the '82 - 300D with 125k and sold it with nearly 400k , only had to change the water pump. Was driven hard all the time , had very regular servicing. Great car.

However , the 190e and 300sel are both a constant worry with engine electrical gremlins.

Gonna go back to a pre-technology diesel I think.

2006 E320 CDI, purchased brand new, no major probs at all.

compared to my 00' acura, who are known for their wonderful realibility, etc, which the CD player just dosen't feel like working, and i belive this is the 2nd one thats failed. Nothing aginst acura, but it sorta tells you that just becouse CR or JD power says a brand is particularly reliable or not, that you wont always get a good or bad car.

Hey, just look at the newest JD power reports. I think before reliability was more hit/miss, now its more hit, a lot more.

I'm not sure that's fair. Although fair is not constitutionally protected, but sticking to the point, as of 6:45 PST on 6/14/2007, according to that paragon of arithmetical excellence (the thread view counter) less than 150 people have actually looked at this thread.

I think we should all meet and discuss this matter over large quantities of alcoholic beverages and come to a final resolution - naturally Benzworld advertising dollars would cover expenses as this IS official research. First order of business; where to meet. I vote for Vegas. That way the financial backers of this deliberation can be assured that we're not "distracted".

Less I be accused of hijacking the thread; 2002 CLK430 other than maintenance, no expenses incurred.

Well, except for a headlight bulb. And I'm cheap enough that a Xenon bulb, which should be replaced in pairs, is borderline major. After all, who decided light bulbs should have a list price that exceeds $100? SO allow me to rephrase, other than normal wear items, I've spent zip.
