2005 C Class coupe service

My 2005 C160 C Class coupe is due its first A service at 12000 miles.

I have been quoted half the price from a franchised dealer for a Mercedes specification service using Mercedes components (only oil change and filter)

I have approx 18 months warrenty left to run on the car.

Has anyone else tried this servicing approach and are there any pit falls

I am probably the wrong person to be answering, but I have all of my service done at the dealer where I bought my car (I have a pre-owned warranty). I think since your car is still under the new car warranty, it is cheap insurance to use a franchised dealer for your A service. I call this simply "covering your ass".
