Can I blame the dealership???

I had a transmission problem and I took my CL500 2002 to the Walnut Creek dealership in California.

The next day after they "fixed it" the car broke down again and it was due to mistake they made while fixing the car. I ended up going to the dealership in San Francisco and the got it right that time.

After I picked up the car for the second time, I noticed that the navigation system was not working anymore, I keep getting a message that reads "Navigation can not be started An error has acurred"

Could the navigation have gotten messed up when they took apart the whole center console to fix the gear shifter?

Sorry about your problem with Stead's in Wanut Creek, I heard that they were bad.
You might have no choice but to go back to the SF dealer. But, I hate them.

If I were you I would NEVER, EVER go to the San Francisco Mercedes dealership.
Not ever, for anything.

I went there years ago, when I lived there, and they were a disaster, they couldn't fix my car, misdiagnosed the problem and laughed at me when I took the car back. finally had to get a chargeback on my credit card.

Go to RAB Motors in San Rafael, if you want to go to a dealer. David Santy is head of the Service Department, and he is pretty good, he is involved with the MBCA and has put on tech sessions and tours for the MB enthusiasts.

There is a poster here, at Benzworld, called "JoshuaJeeper" who is a service writer, at RAB who I think could help you. Mention Jim B. from benzworld, that is me, I talked to him here once, and maybe that would help.

RAB also used to give a 10-15% discount on work to MBCA members, I dont know if you are one, or if they still do, it wouldn't hurt to ask, with labor at $130 perhour or more (I think, haven't been back for around 3 yrs.)

Good luck

Stead is good... in writing high estimates on the parts they have never seen.
I already posted how they perform "courtezy safety inspection" and without taking off the shield estimated that (new) driveshaft disks need to be replaced.
Sorry about your recent problem. I would let the last dealer take a look at the problem, but would hardly look for independent. I do my own repairs. Fortunatelly didn't have the complicated electronics going bad on me.
