Headlight wiper....Need help.....

So I was replacing some parts on my headlight assembly (right side) when after reinstalling the unit then attaching the wiper I went to see if everything was working properly.
When I turned on the lights the wipers started to piss everywhere. It was then I realized something was wrong.... So I noticed I had the cables switched. Once I switched the cables to the correct slot I went to turn on the lights and wiper system. However this time the wiper went in the opposite direction than usual. It's strange since it was working fine just yesterday.
Does anyone have any ideas on how this can be? And if there are any ways to fix without replacing?
I'd appreciate any feed back. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible you have the motor mounted upside down or have reversed left and right motors?
think about it- all you did was reassemble...wiper works only one way and worked same way before removalk. Now it works on opposite direction...Try swapping motors or turn motor right side up.

No no no..... I hear ya but this is what happend.

I bought some replacment parts for the mounting of the light assembly. Just a week ago I had removed both left and right sides never touching the wiper motor itself, then reinstalled, noticing after installing that I will need new mounting pieces. By the way, during the week both headlight wipers worked fine.

So today I removed the right side to replace the old parts with the new ones. A real easy job. Never did touch the wiper motor itself. Though I did notice that there is a green plastic piece that was chipped of. Doesn't seem to be something that would cause this sort of problem.

It seems as if there was an exterior switch on the motor unit that would reverse polarity. So I did a double take but found no such switch.

I don't understand. Would plugging in the wrong switch cause the motor to reverse itself?
