this is to zhuorongdeng, i am another mb tech on thi forum. i would say by far the most common problem on the 722.9 transmission is the b1 and b3 snap rings coming loose. as far as being more reliable, its hard to say, it's really more of a hit or miss thing, the large majority have no problems, while others have big problems, like the snap rings coming loose, failure of the oil pumps.
to 05black6mt- that black cap on the top of the transmission is a vent that helps releive pressure that can buil up inside the transmission when it heats up, thus preventing the seals from being damaged by too much pressure.
