ml430 misfire

hi everyone, purchased 3 weeks ago from a garage a 2001 ml430, took it to be lpg converted and the mechanic refused due to do it as it has a slight mis-fire!
i wasnt aware of this but on tick over it has a slight judder and it sounds like the stereo has been left on as there is a small bass sound.
the basic computer check (plugging in under steering wheel) doesnt show misfire faults, it drives well! we have fitted new air mass sensor and bosch 1mm gap plugs, thinking of trying leads next as this is another cheapish option, have been advised to go to mercedes and let them connect to coil packs etc but they want £135 an hour....ouch! there are no warning lights on dash either...any thoughts please...waited years to own this merc and now this! should be enjoying my new car and not stressing!...please help!??

I dont know about the lpg conversion, but if there are no misfires shown by the CEL-I dont see a problem. If by leads you mean the spark plug wires, you might as well change them. Especially if you did the plugs. What is the mileage?

Have you though about taking it to another shop to have the conversion done?

hi, thanks for reply, its done 75k miles, the lpg conversion cant be regulated properly unless the engine is working at its max, the fault has been confirmed by 2 different mechanics and yes i do mean the spark plug wires.
I want to use this guy to convert as he has done it for mercedes dealers and has good history for this make and model.
regards

values!!! thats all above me!...i'll try the spark plug leads first.

lpg: liquid pertroleum gas, nearly £1 a litre here for unleaded ($2 to you) so this is an alternative fuel over here, runs clean, no deposits, no work for the cat and half the price!

if youre trying to diagnose this with out the mb software, it could cost you just throwing parts at it. autohausaz does have aftermarket plugwire sets for under $200 though.
