trailer hitch

Is it possible to get a trailer hitch for my 2007 E320 Bluetec? Who would carry it? Thanks! John

Aw man, that thing isn't set up to pull stuff in spite of all the torque. I've got an 07 E-320 and wouldn't consider it. The seven speed trans is not designed to pull trailers and the inner body is not designed for trailer hitches.

Closest I could find was 06: 2006*Mercedes-Benz*E-Class*hitch search *by etrailer.com (800)298-8924

I've asked MB USA about towing with my car and they recommended against it. The main reason they gave was that the stability control wouldn't work properly. Considering how much these cars weigh, I find it hard to believe the 7AT could not handle pulling a small trailer. (My tiny Impreza will pull up to 2000 lbs.)

I wonder.
E-class and ML are basically the same drive-train. I towed with my Ml for several thousands miles and very often was exceeding maximum weights. Never had any problem and the ML is it's 9-th trouble free year.
Can't be the bigger wheels?

They have been recommending against towing for as long as I can remember, mindlessly in all likelyhood. There is certainly a lot of towing with MBs in Europe. Mindless recommendations are not always wrong but I would not grant them any credibility on the subject of towing.

Trailer hitch is the option code 550 from factory in Europe. I don't see why it would harm the car in the US if it doesn't in Europe.

^^Agree; that looks more solid.

To John (original poster): What are planning on towing? If you are thinking about a 4000-lb boat, I'd say forget it.

Trailer hitch

Thanks for the input. I'm planning on pulling my combination watercraft/motorcycle trailor. Weight would be about 900 lbs. for the vehicle and about 500 for the trailer. With the fold down rear seats, and trailer hitch this car would be a user as well as a cruiser.

Where could I take a look at or order the European #550 accessory hitch factory option? John
