Sounds good, I'll have to look into this. "Motos" that's Motorola? And they have a lock on MB? What is with this?

I appreciate the feed back Musikmann and NZ Benz... I will look into this tomorrow and keep everyone up to date.

It would be cool to have this big hand box car phone as it was in the 90's. LOL

Cheers...

Yes, a lot of people call the Motorolas "Motos" as in "Moto RAZR". The lock I was referring to was because every MB phone that I know of was made by Motorola, at least in recent times.

Glad you had time to search the specialty forum for a 400E phone conversion/upgrade, but it surprises me that it has not come up before.

Cheers too

Okay, so I went to the Nokia website and couldn't find a damn thing... So I emailed for some info and this is what I got:

Thank you for your response.

We acknowledge your ongoing concern regarding the availability of a
Nokia vehicle accessory that meets your needs.

Mike, we appreciate your loyalty to Nokia Mobile Phones and can provide
the following information pertaining to a vehicle enhancement that
meets your needs.

The Nokia Complete Car Kit CARK-91 was available with the optional
Nokia Handset Kit HSU-1, which served the purpose of a handset privacy unit
(that, in turn, resembled a traditional car phone).

Unfortunately, Nokia does not manufacture a mobile handset that would
adapt to your vehicle. We regret any inconvenience that this may cause.

Please be advised that as part of our normal course of business, Nokia
continually introduces and discontinues phone models to meet changing
market demand. The Nokia Complete Car Kit CARK-91 has been removed from
production (and cannot be repaired) as a part of this process.

We recommend that you contact local retailers and dealers to see if
they can assist you in purchasing the Nokia Complete Car Kit CARK-91.

If you have any additional questions, please contact us. To ensure
proper handling, please continue to use the current subject line.

This helps a bit. Although I would be screwed if I couldn't find any one for repairs if needed.

I heard that a BMW phone would work, being German I could see that, yet Being competitors I can see why it wouldn't.

Anyway, I will see what I can find with the info given and will keep this thread updated...

Cheers...

So this is what I found through NOKIA... It's a bit much for what I was thinking, though I don't suppose I'll find exactly what I had in mind.
I'm not giving up though. This was a good start. I will update with something else soon.
Cheers...

Did you look at nokiausa? Better to look at the European site, browse categories, car solutions, car kits:
Nokia - Accessories - Find products

All except the car kit phones should work fine in the US with any phone brand (car kit phones are real phones that connect through BT SAP and the phone is likely a dual band European GSM for 900/1800 MHz).
