electrical horrors... need help
Murphy's law in action. I leave on a 1600 mile trip and 400 miles out my car starts acting up. All of the sudden there seems to be shorts in four different circuits. That explanation seems a little implausible though seeing as they all developed at the same time. If y'all could give me a few ideas as to what's wrong I would be forever grateful.
The problem circuits are 12 (stop-turn signal lamp, instrument cluster, diagnostic, warning monitor term. 8, cruise control, tachometer), 14 (heated rear window, horn, safety belt handover arm, cigar light rear), 1 (parking/tail light right, warning buzzer, license plate/instrument/hazard warning switch/heater and ventilation controls/ rocker switches illumination, electronic radio illumination), and to a lesser extent 9 ( cigar lighter, glove compartment light, radio, heating system for washer jets).
There's also a strange buzz coming from the drivers side of the cowl/dashboard. It occurs at intervals somewhere between fifteen seconds and a minute and lasts for between a half second and three. But sometimes it doesn't happen at all.
I don't think the following has anything to do with it, but I'll throw the thought out there anyway. I've modified the car to run on vegetable oil so there were two wires running from the fuse box to power a solenoid and a auxiliary pump from a fish tank. I disconnected those as soon as I started having the problems.
