cmitch and mcbear are point blank!
Because I can afford a MB does not mean I should not ask any questions and just pay up time after time. MB's quality has positively gone down hill. I have had a MB in my family since 1973 (when they were tank!) It's should be the title of a novel. When I go to purchase anything and ask the price I don't say afterwards, "Is that the price for the less inferior version".
In comparison, my alarm company sent me a letter stating that I will have to upgrade my cellular radio to digital by December 31, 2007. However, they are selling the new units at cost, including free installation for the low-low price of $199. Now that's agreeable and I didn't even have to take them to court. BTW, I have had my alarm since 2001 and they are still offering me the same deal; there is no cut off date. Furthermore, the technology is the same as the upgrade to the teleaid package. All cellular add on packages (car, home and business alarms, etc.) must be compatible with the same cell towers.
MB certainly could have planned ahead; added a Molex port for the future; DONE! It could not be easier since the new board is DIGITAL. The cost to adding the port would be .02 to .04 cents to parts/production. I know this because I am an electronics developer. $1700 is just a slap in the face. And once again for all the smart people out there, it's not whether you can afford it or not, it's the principle! You get what you pay for and something was left out.
