CLK 200K - Sept 2003 - UK (North London).
This problem has always been there - from brand new - I took it back to my local dealer several times after it was delivered, but I was told it was normal on all the new clk mercs = intermittent, slight sticking / noise when slowing down and the gear changes down from 2nd to 1st (in manual &/or auto mode).
This was my first merc (and probably the LAST) and after several visits to my local merc dealer and even a trip out sitting with the mechanic while he drove my car to experience what I was talking about - I very reluctantly just accepted = "merc tip-auto gearboxes are all like that / poorly engineered".
However, the noise has grown and it is now completely unbearable
" CLUNK "
Questions (can anyone help):
Is this normal, if not is there a quick (in-expensive) fix? (fyi: 6 speed + reverse)
Needless to say, my car is now approaching 4 years old (47k miles) and is out of warranty - always serviced by MB!
- this is driving me MAD
