transmissions 722.6xx

hi everyone,i needed a 722.696 transmision because mine was unfit for further use,or knackered,i found one,now i have time to strip and locate the fault on the old one ,i own an engineering workshop,has anyone,or does anyone know or have been told truthfully what was wrong with their knacked transmission,my view is its not rocket science even if it was i have made all that stuff anyway,so i want to give it a go and recon,this recon auto stuff is a well kept trade secret by a few lets open it up a bit any pointers would be welcome alan southampton UK
