Jennifer. Lesson #1 of MB Car owner ship is find a independent shop to take care of the work instead of the dealer. The prices on the parts will be cheaper and not at a cost of $120 per hour. Depending on what dealer and what area of the country the price will vary. OEM Pads?

You definitely need a good indie for a MB.

I drive a 2004 CLK320 with about 180k miles. The car is well maintained since new. Just last week my alternator died. The dealership quoted me $1,022CAN for a reconditioned alternator and 3hr labour. My indie did the whole job for $520 (parts and labour). The reconditioned alternator carries 2-year warranty so I went with it.

As for brake job, I usually change the pads with the rotors. My indie charges me one hour for each axle which is $90. I usually provide my own parts.
