Hey, ecko.

Hundreds of posts on this all over the map.

Your car holds 8 liters (8.5 US Qt) of oil.

MBZ says to use Mobil1 0W40, which meets their specification. No only the newer and harder to find 5W40 meets that spec as well. You can safely use that oil in any climate found on this planet.

Other manufacturers have other viscosity ranges that meet the spec, but you must use synthetic. If you search you'll find a link to a web page that has all the oils that meet the spec. I've never found one of them in a store besides the Mobil1 0W40.

Royal Purple does not make an oil that has been certified by MBZ for use in your car. They say it's because the market isn't big enough for them to go through the process, but they opine that their products are fine to use. Your choice, they have lots of fans.

Be sure to buy the fleece oil filter for your car, and I recommend buying the kit so you get the necessary o-rings as well. I did a pictorial DIY post for the V6 320 and it's in the 210 forum, you can probably get some pointers there if you want to take a look.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
