$6000 95' honda civic with the same miles will last 250-300k WITH NO MAJOR ISSUES.I believed the Benz can do at least the same.I was wrong.Or maybe it will-but with the next $6000 invested in a repairs.
Even if that is true, Hondas are ugly, souless, light weight, point a to point b cars, that are uncomfortable, dull, plain boring. Also, you should have checked the records, gotten a car fax, everyone knows that. I mean you have a benz with a few scratches and dents, it still looks decent. You have a Honda with Half the dents in scratches that are in the MB, it looks like crap.

Also, if you're in the Honda, and you crash into the benz you just sold at anything above 50, you're not gunna have the ability to complain about the Mercedes anymore, even if the C-class is lighter than alot of cars, they are going to be in alot better condition than you are.

Sorry. But I extremely beg to differ.

I've driven a Honda Civic Si manual and that car was a blast to drive. Nice torquey I-4 with a really high redline. How is that soulless?

Being that they are lightweight, they don't have much to throw around in the bends which makes them agile and fun in the corners.

They're also very practical and reliable and on top of being lightweight making them fun in the corners and them being relatively quick, how are they soulless?

Some might agree that a Civic's suspension setup maybe too stiff for some...but that doesn't overwhelm everything else. Hondas are extremely inspired cars...need a perfect example, look at the Honda NSX, the original Integra Type-R or the S2000. Absolutely fascinating automobiles.

Also, keep in mind. Your opinion cannot depict whether a car is factually good, but can only depict whether you like it yourself or not.

If you want a boring car, get a Lincoln Town Car.

For those who dis my Benzos with tales of their Hondas and Toyotas I just ask them to go to their dealers and ask for the forms to order the 250000 and 500000KM grill emblems and to get the address of the Toyota Classic Center. That is usually all it takes.

1,175,000 miles on the six Benzos. I have put about 350K of that on them.

I didn't diss your Benz. I just hate it when people undermine Japanese automotive engineering.

I wasn't talking about you, just commenting in general.

My shop works on mainly Benz and Toyotas for some reason and both have very good engineering. Since we are just down from the Camry plant there are many older ones running around and we end up rebuilding motors in them on a fairly regular basis. The Camry's pay the bills while the Benz restorations pay the retirement fund.

My mechanic is a Honda freak so there are also highly tuned up Civics running around with my BuRP [Bear Restoration and Performance] stickers at AutoX throughout the midwest.

It is pretty obvious that the previous owner knew about these problems.
I would bet he cleared the trouble codes and parked the car looking for a buyer.
Then sold it to this guy for WAY too much....I mean please a c220 with 100k+ for $6000.....should have shopped around.
He deserved what he got.
As for the honda argument....'06+ civics are the only honda's I would drive.
Anything older is alot "cheesier"
As for the honda vs. toyota......honda hands down

Hmmmm: I bought my '94 C220 w/ 69k from the original owner via e-bay 30 months ago for $5500. Only repair needed in 25k was a maf. Benz-O-Mania got lemoned in several ways!

Smaller, simpler Benz but still felt safer than an Accord or Camry with some personality. C-Class feels more substantial than the 190 did.

Enjoyed Honda/Acura & Toyota's as both an owner & salesman but the soul was not there.

'87 300E: sold after 11years @ 230k & still on the road somewhere in rural Tennessee.

'94 C220 with 93k totalled 10/06 by hit & run broadsiding monster truck: not a scratch or bruise for me

Try to drive the Honda civic as hard as you would a BENZ or a Bimmer, see if it lasts. Another thing is, yes it takes money to maintain these cars and that's why they are a luxury not necessity. If it is necessary for me to go from A to B, and nothing more, I'd get a Honda....Naaaaahhh I am lying I will never get in a tin can for any reason....

I dunno, it is hard to debate on this topic...you're either a BENZ or Bimmer person or it doesn't matter for you what you drive. as long as it is cheap to maintain. I think you either get, understand what a Benz or a BMW is or you don't.

I wounder if there is a Lexus forum or a Hyundai forum...LOL

If I get a Lexus LS460 as a gift, I'll sell it in a heart beat and get me a Benz or a Bimmer UUUUSEEEEEDDDD
