99 clk battery replacement

I went to start the 99 clk 320 today and got the characteristic click of a weak battery. Accesories still work but I am speculating that this, believe it or not, original battery has just had enough. It would not turn over the motor. Is there anything magic about an oem MB battery, or will any aftermarket ( presuming it fits and is of comparable capacity) battery work? If so, any particular brand? Thanks!

I have found that good ol Sears Diehards have the correct battery and a very good warranty. They have NEVER let me down. Others use the Optima Batteries with very good results.

To directly answer your question NO there is no magic to Benz batteries. Just get the correct cold cranking amps and you will be good to go.

Welcome to the board. Fill out your profile so everyone will know you are a Mountaineer. Muzicman is also from Huntington. He comes to Lex every little bit. We are going to have a GTG sometime in May but have not planned it well yet.

Just in case there is not a diehard battery that will fit, call the 1-800 number in the owners manual. Roadside assistance will install a battery for you. NO charge for the labor. The battery on my w163 was $130 or so. You can call the parts dept at your local dealer and get the exact price.

MB roadside will come out to wherever you are , install one , recode everything, and take the old one. The parts counter price, no labor, 10% discount if you belong to MBclub. $125 t0 150 depending on dealer (higher in NY and Beverly Hills) independent shop crap!
