I have very good big block V8 American engine (Ford Powerstroke) in my pickup.
It is nice engine for Super Duty pickup, but I am afraid that after installing it in Mercedes, the oil dipstick would stick above the roof.
I can get to it with small step stool on Ford.

well thanks for you sarcasm to everyone who says you can there are a million who say you can't! Anyway, I have heard and seen it done on smaller vehicles like a 1986 volvo 740 and it is the coolist sleeper I have seen. If anyone has any real info I would be more than greatful.

If you are looking at putting a American V8 into either a W126 or W124 bodied 80's era car, yes, they have been done, many times with good results. Also, I recall several W123 wagons with V8s in them in the 80's.

Depending on what car you have, go to that sub forum and do a search. You will find many threads that have covered the subject.

One of the thing that many of the purists don't see is that there is not much that can be done HP wise on one of the 80s era Benzos. Unless you Twin Turbo a 6 [about $6-7500] or do a bottom up rebuild with lightweight forged pistons/conrods, trick cams, lightened Crank, modded fuel system, ECU, etc [$7-20,000] you can't get real High performance [and yes, I deal with 500Es so I know where thresholds are].

With a LS2 GM Smallblock [which fits either a 124 or 126 engine bay] you can move up to the 500+RWHP threshold for under $7000 installed. $10K quickly gets you in the 650RWHP ballpark in a motor that is everybit as dependable as the M119 or M117 motors [and less expensive to upgrade].

So, it is possible to get the best of both worlds, incredible MB styling and bankvault solid body, suspension and interior along with a motor family that has been in more cars for more years than any other in automobile history [part of that "if it ain't broke..." logic.]

I agree I recon a GM LS1 or 2 or a Hemi 5.7 would do nicely
