Regardless living in CA I drive on snow occasionally, while going skiing.
My skiing Buddy drove to Sierra alone, when I was sick 2 weeks ago and going with the traffic his Honda skidded and hit SUV parked on the shoulder.
He's got not ESP and no traction.
I didn't try ice driving in my wagon, but some time ago tried iced parking lot in our ML320. When I managed to loose the traction on all 4 wheels, the computer cut me off from engine control till the car stopped
But it didn't put the vehicle in limp mode.
Looks to me that computer tries to do whatever it can, till the moment it is giving up and shutting everything down.
I don't know how fast you guys in Europe drive on snow, but I had the warning triangle coming on at 60 mph, while driving on sandy road. Even sand is less slippery than snow, that doesn't bring pleasant memories.
