I think they are just trying to CYA because they know they are going to have a bunch of pissed-off owners next week when our clocks are all off by one hour.

The more I think about it I don't believe the satellites are going to reset because the US is the only (idiot) nation to make the change. GPS are international and no one else is making the switch but us/US. Which means that we all will have to do a manual reset tomorrow. Just my guess... Now I'm starting to wonder what happens when the old (April) DST date arrives... Will our cars be an hour ahead?
If you'd like to see the 1st one, PM me your email and I'll gladly forward it to you. It's a bit long for a C/P here but if anyone wants me to, please ask.

I believe you're correct with your 2nd paragraph statements, and I'd like to ditto your "idiot nation". I'll still try and see if it re-sets by itself tomorrow, but do you think I'll need to insert the CD and fire up the NAV so the car is at least communicating with the GPS satellite(s)?

Intesting but no crisis

There are interesting questions, as I roam with my cell phone the time zones are picked up, I have not checked my GPS on my boat but I dont think It picks up daylight savings time, my handheld did pick up different time zone in the Caribbian while cruising last week.
Why dont we abolish the process, and remove the people who cause it and send kids to shool all year, a waste of resources.

The clock in our 2006 E-class with Nav does not reset for daylight savings time.

The clock in our 2006 E-class with Nav does reset when crossing a time zone boundary.

Unfortunately not all, European union starts on the last Sunday of March, but interesting comments and info on this thread already now.

I did not understand this comment. Does it mean "the whole world as seen in the US", meaning all US States. Would not make sense to change the same way in the whole world, with the European interpretation, after all, the southern hemisphere gains more light when we have less.

This was with a GSM phone? It is called NITZ, the feature delivers not only the local time zone info but also the actual UTC time and information about summer time when the phone performs a location update to the network.

Obviously any changes for the date when summer time starts, only needs to be taken care of by the cellular operator.

Would be nice if MB was able to integrate more of the cell phone services into the car. Probably too complicated when there are a few different standards that would need to be considered, and fragmentation seems to be increasing in the future.

I think we all forgot to consider that the DST will be in effect @ 2 am EST which makes that in effect @ 3 am CST and effect @ 4 am PST......

We all are fools.....It passed 2 am here in NJ and my computer automatically fixed itself...and my cellphone....and my satellite linked alarm clock....
