97E420 mfg in march of 1996 is on it's second battery. First one I replaced in 2008, just because it was getting old.
97SL500, mfg in August 1996 is on it's second battery . Original owner replaced it in 2006. SG on this battery is still near original spec on all cells.
and on both cars, the "rest" function gets some serious workout in the winter which coupled with short hops isn't the best for the battery, but they still seem to hold up well.
But then my 04 silverado diesel OEM GM Delco batteries went 10 years before needing replacement as well. But they still started the truck last winter in idaho at -30F. And the glow plug draw is 250A for about 10 seconds at that temp in addition to the cranking amps. Need some serious juice in cold weather.
So 3 vehicles, average is 10+years/battery. But then the pacific northwest weather probably helps, not to hot, not to cold.
