S&S Tire tried to get me to put Assurance on my 300SEL before it got Turboed and lowered. I drove them three weeks and went back and had them replaced with Kumho's.

Here is the manufacturer's link. Specific Tire

I recommended them to my cousin who has a 02 S500 and drives between Santa Maria and UCLA Med Center weekly and he loves them. Got 45K miles on the first set and he does NOT baby that car as he carves Mulholland Drive on the way down the back roads.
Wow! They look good, and at that price I'm wondering if there is any way to compare them to mine? (245/45WR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 XL and 275/40YR-18 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3)

I have got a set of Goodyear Eagle F1s [17s] that came on a set of wheels that I bought. I ran them for about 8K miles before flipping them over to Kumhos. They already had 10k on them so they were near the end of their life. I liked the F1s, and they did everything they were suppose to do but the Kumhos are pretty much dead on. Only time I have noticed a difference was when I took the street car on a track lap. The F1s were a bit more aggressive [but note they were also near race tread at that point] than the Kumhos. I have one set of Kumhos that are nearing the same tread. I plan on mounting them up on my track rims as soon as spring gets here and running some times on the 500E.

For street/road/twisties/highway the Kumhos will equal the F1s all day. They are quieter also and they have a higher wear number.

We just bought Zerex G-05 antifreeze yesterday for the ML for $11 a gallon. The jug we bought was concentrated so you have to add water and dilute it anyway.

10k is probably often enough, even for an older car... I change mine every 5k, but I know I probably don't have too. I just plan to keep my car for a long time so I do the extra oil change...

I liked them for the ~1000 miles I had them, so that's not much of a trial is it?

If my dealer was offering the price for an oil change that I saw you mention somewhere else, I would too. I probably should anyway, and might start depending on the Blackstone Labs report I get when I next change it; but it's at least $100 where I go.
