well, being owner of a L460 L and my father ownin an s65 amg, i gotta say i do love mercedes in every way more than i might love lexus, now, i know and all lexus owners know that mercedes will always be mercedes and its my favorite car on top of anythin in the world. Why did i get an L460 ? wanted to try something different, my first real luxury car i didnt wanted to get a benz first because it was more expensive and second because im only 20 and my father is helping me pay for both of my cars, now i really enjoy my 460 but everytime i see an s550 next to me or behind i really wished i saved up a little more for the down payment and would of gotten it. But hey i dont regret anything i have done, the car is comfortable, not slow the parking by itself its more like a useless idea but very clever and impressive and the car is very reliable. but.... what can, i agree with everyone here, ill put the benz in front of my lexus any day... Oh one other thing, dont compare the s600 to a 460 L, thats just abusive....

S600 is the real man Icon.

W140 is the car that got me interested in MB, I would be happy to own any S-Class starting from W140. I not sure I want to be seen driving Lexus - it's just as lame as sticking ///AMG badge on non-AMG car.

Lex has a niche - people who want to own a luxury car, but can't afford Mercedes. My Marketing professor was praising MB strategy - when Lexus tried to undercut MB pricing - MB just increased their price to make the difference even bigger.

Which makes them look like dopes and increase the cause and reason to buy the cheaper brand, just because the top brass keeps increasing their prices when they could get something just as good as Mercedes but cheaper...

And Mercedes doesn't have a niche? I dunno what world you're in...

I know a boat load of people who would buy Lexus because to this day they are more reliable and cheaper and want to get more bang for their buck, not because they can't afford it.

And please death to these threads, the argument is never going to enddddd......

Since two auto magazines (Automobile and Autoweek) are currently doing long term reviews of the LS 460L and comparing it to German car, why end this?

Why is the thread still titled S600 to Lexus LS460 L?

Quote from Autoweek: "But all agree the ride, even when switching to sport mode, is softer than that of the offerings from Lexus's German rivals.", so Mercedes must ride like a Jeep!
