check engine light

I apologize for the constant troubling. Couple days ago the BAS/ASR light came on. The car still drives fine.

Tonight the check engine light came on too. I wasn't in the "Limping Home Mode" or feel the car is losing any power.

I have a service appointment Friday morning.

Question: Can I still drive my car or should I have it towed to the dealership?

Thank you!

As long as it idles ok and there is no loss of power you are fine.

No need to apologize, that's part of the reason why this forum is here

The last 2 times I had a CEL light on (different MBs) I wondered about a tow also. Both dealers I called said if it "seemed" to be running okay, it was all right to drive it in. My guess is that you are safe to at least drive it a few miles.

Good Luck!

This might help you understand a little about why the CEL might have come on: Check Engine Light

My son drove his ML with CEL for 3 months before he ordered new MAF and come home for the weekend to replace it. (he lives in apartment, where he can't work on the car).
The 10 codes he generated due the MAF going bad were "misfire" so no damage done and the car drove normally, but if you don't know codes and you have car in limp mode -you can only guess what is going on and .... pray

The code was L 02 or something.

The service person said the omission sensor is bad. First time for me.

I am really liking this forum. I should have signed on ages ago.
