Windshield wash

Question re windshield washer fluid. Manual says to take care washer fluid won't damage plastic headlights - when I read specs on various brands no mention of 'won't damage plastic.........' Is all this stuff safe or is there something to this?
Thanks

Standard solvent should be fine.

Mercedes dealers sell (or used to) 40ml vials of windshield washer concentrate "S". You dilute the contents of the small vial with 1 gallon of distilled water for warm temps. They recommend adding the vial to conventional fluid for cold temps. I have a vial around here somewhere that I will look for if you want a part number.

Thanks guys. Sometimes I wonder when you read this sort of thing in the manuals if it's just to scare you into buying the mfg product or there is someting to it.

I think its just saying that they are not responsible for any discoloration to head light lenses due to improper fluids...
