Gas Gauge Malfunction

I've got a 1999 MB CLK 320 with 25k miles and my gauge reads incorrectly right after gasing up and taking off. If I let it sit for say 10 minutes, most of the time it will function properly. Would this be the sending unit or has anyone else had this problem? What is the price range I should be looking at to get his repaired?

this needs moved to the W208 forum

if you do a search you will find some info about this.

common problem with original sensors, contacts in new updated sensors are gold plated to eliminate this problem, some people had the sensors replaced with old style sensors and within a couple of years had the same problem.

I also have a 99CLK Cab and it needs both sensors as well as the upgraded wiring harness to work with the new sensors, the sensors and wiring harness upgrade will run you around $400.00 for parts, and 2.5 hrs labor. Make sure you buy Siemens VDO sensors.
