I do what c2804matic's sales guy suggested. I start the car up and remove the blade key and use that to manually lock the door.

Its very convenient for me because my whole keychain is with me so I can get back into the house and lock it when I leave.

Question Workaround

Mercedes Benz of Florida told us how to do that, but I haven't tried it yet. You said your 2nd key does nothing if another one is in the ignition. Maybe the different models behave differently?

I like it too and would never disable that. What I think we can do is to change the speed at which they lock, but I've never tried to do that.

I guess the locking logics have been changed several times in last decade.
When we test-drove ML in 97 it had automatic locks.
Our delivered year later didn't.
My 99 E-classe locks the doors automatically with the ignition on, while 97 E doesn't.
I know newer models can be programmed one way, or the other, but we might be stuck with what we have on older ones.

there would be no point in changing or disable the speed for when the doors lock cause u wouldn't want anyone in ur car to open the door... but neways, locking it manually is the fastest way so far. if ne one finds a better way let me kno. thanks

Put a black mamba inside your car on the driver seat, and then if someone tries to steal your car while its running, they'll get bit and die. Of course, the snake has to be trained to know you and just smile when you go in the car. Sorry I just saw snakes in a plane.
